What is Console Access Server?

A Console Switch (also referred to as Console Switch, Console Access Server, console management server, serial concentrator, serial Console Switch, reverse telnet server, terminal server)
"Is a device or service that provides access to the system console of a computing device via networking technologies"
Business Benefits of Secure Console Access Server?

Access Serial/RS-232/Console Over IP
No need to freeze yourself in data centers because Opengear server will provide you secure console access over IP (FIPS 140-2 Certified) anywhere.

Eradicate Console Cables & Converters
No need to carry console cables and USB console converters anymore because device consoles are already connected with Opengear Server and you can access them over IP.

Zeroise Travel Time
No need to travel to remote sites for console access. Save time, money and reduce road risk.

By Pass Security Clearance & Site Pass
No need to waste time waiting for site passes and security clearance because you don’t have to visit the remote site anymore.

Get PDU Console Access
No need to visit the sites for hard power reboot because PDUs will directly connect to Opengear Console Switch.

Start Troubleshooting Instantly
No need to wait till standard connectivity is restored and then start trouble shooting. Take console access over 3G/4G/LTE and reduce downtime by hours.

Localized Rack Environmental Alerts
No need to depend on data center environmental monitoring team to get localized rack alerts for environmental monitoring

Console Access over 3G/4G/LTE without Public IP Assigned
No need to worry about 4G connection not having public IP address to access remote site. Call Home feature will do the job.

RAW RS-232 Data
No need to dedicate a PC connected over com port to get RS-232 data. You can get such exact data over IP at any remote site.
Features:
In-Band Management

A method of accessing (network firewalls, routers, switches, servers, storage, CCTV, desktops or any IP configured device) by security technicians to configure and manage these devices through your regular network connection such as LAN or WAN.A method of accessing (network firewalls, routers, switches, servers, storage, CCTV, desktops or any IP configured device) by security technicians to configure and manage these devices through your regular network connection such as LAN or WAN.
When your network is down or severely degraded, in-band management however could be of a little help, and you, as an administrator, might have no other choice but make a trip to you data center, unless there is an out-of-band network that has been previously setup
Out-of-Band Management

A method of accessing (network firewalls, routers, switches, servers, storage, CCTV, desktops or any IP configured device) by security technicians to configure and manage these devices through your non regular network connection such as Cellular (LTE or 4G or 3G) or legacy dial-up modems (V-92).
Localized Environmental Monitoring (Sensors)

Environmental monitoring sensors can be supplied and connected directly to each rack and connect them with Console Access Server for localized rack environmental monitoring and get direct alerts via SMS, Email or on Dashboard. Add another layer of localized rack environment monitoring at minimal cost:
- 1. Humidity Sensor
- 2. Heat Sensor
- 3. Rack Door Open/Close Sensor
- 4. Water Leakage Sensor
- 5. Smoke Alarm Sensor
- 6. Window Vibration Sensor
- 7. Motion Sensor

Customized Triggers, Alerts & Remediation Response:
All Console Switchs supports Auto-Response feature.
Alert Condition:
The facility monitors nominated designated ports, devices and states and probes for alert Check Conditions
Trigger Action:
In response to an alert trigger the Console Switch then initiates a sequence of Trigger Actions
Remediation:
The facility then checks for resolution and initiates Resolve Action (e.g. send notifications of problem Remediation)
Few Alert Triggers:
- UPS-Power-Supply-Checks (load, input voltage etc triggers)
- Battery-Checks (on battery and battery low triggers)
- Serial-Checks (serial port/console login, pattern match or control line trigger )
- Custom Script Check will run a nominated custom script with arguments whose return value is trigger
- Alarms/Digital Inputs (door open, smoke, vibration, water leakage trigger, heat & Humidity)
- ICMP Ping (use a ping result as the trigger event)
- Cellular Data (monitors the aggregate data traffic inbound and outbound through the cellular modem as a trigger)
- Setting an incoming SMS-Command from a nominated caller as the trigger
